Where to go

Sedlec Ossuary (the Bone Church)
What to see: An underground chapel decorated with the bones of around 40,000 people — chandeliers, pyramids and a coat of arms, all made from human remains. Eerie, unforgettable, and one of the most photographed places in Czechia. Tickets are timed, so it's worth planning ahead.

FAQ
How long is the drive from Prague?
About 1 to 1.5 hours each way, roughly 80 km east of Prague. It's our shortest trip, so you don't have to start early unless you want to.
Can we take photos inside the Bone Church?
Yes, photos are allowed, but no flash and no tripods — and please be respectful, it's a chapel and a resting place. The ossuary is small, so visits are timed; we'll help you plan the timing so you're not rushed.
Where do we have lunch?
Kutná Hora has cosy restaurants in the old town near the cathedral. A few favourites:
- Restaurace Dačický — a renowned medieval-style tavern near St. Barbara's Cathedral. Hearty Czech food, game dishes and great beer — consistently rated the best in town. See on Google Maps.
- Staročeská restaurace V Ruthardce — a stylish medieval restaurant with a terrace overlooking St. Barbara's and a cosy fireplace interior. See on Google Maps.
- Factory Bistro Cafe Bar — a modern spot for a break from Czech food: homemade burgers, pizza and pasta, with friendly English-speaking staff. See on Google Maps.
Lunch isn't included in the price and usually runs €10–20 per person. Want us to help you book a table? Just ask.
Is Kutná Hora good for kids?
Mostly yes — but the Bone Church can be intense for very young or sensitive children, so parents may want to preview photos first (recommended age 8+). Minting your own coin at the Italian Court is a fun hands-on activity kids love. Note that our car isn't fitted with child seats — bring your own if needed and we'll help install it.
How does Kutná Hora connect to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II?
The game is set in this region in the early 1400s, and several real-life locations — the medieval streets and the Italian Court mint — are recognisable to players. If you're a fan, let us know and we'll point them out along the way.
How much time do we spend in the town?
Around 3–4 hours on the ground, plus the short drive — usually 6 to 7 hours door to door. Enough to see the Bone Church, the cathedral and the old town without rushing. It also pairs well with a relaxed afternoon back in Prague.
